A cookie is a small text file your browser stores on your device when you visit a site. We also use the term loosely to cover localStorage and similar bits of on-device state — the rules in this notice apply to all of them.
Some cookies are needed for Maskotis to work. Others remember a preference. A few help us catch bugs. That's the entire menu.
We do run ads on Facebook and Instagram, and this category is what tells us whether they work. What we don't do is build a profile of you to sell, or send anything about your pets, your household, or what you do inside the app.

Two third parties are involved, and only after you accept the cookie banner:
ph_* cookies and records which pages you visit.We still don't embed the Facebook Pixel, Google Analytics, TikTok, Hotjar, or any other script that follows you from site to site. The information above is sent from our servers, not by a tracker running in your browser.
Decline the banner and none of this happens: no analytics cookies, and nothing sent to Meta.
When you tap a link another member shared that goes outside Maskotis, you leave us and the destination's cookie rules apply. We try to flag those jumps clearly.
You don't need our permission to clear cookies — your browser and OS already let you. From inside Maskotis, you also have:
Reject everything optional and Maskotis still works — you'll just see English by default and we won't catch your crash reports.
We honour the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal as an opt-out from all optional cookies, in line with California and Colorado privacy law. We also treat the older Do Not Track header the same way.
If your browser sends either signal, we won't set Preferences or Diagnostics cookies — you don't need to interact with the banner for that to take effect.
When we add a cookie, remove one, or change what an existing one does, we update this page and bump the version. Material changes are announced in the app and by email at least 30 days before they take effect.
