Cookie notice

Three crumbs.
No trackers.

Maskotis stores the bare minimum your browser needs to keep you signed in, remember your settings, and tell us when something breaks. Nothing follows you off the site.

Last updated May 3, 2026Version 2.0
§ 02Section

The three categories

  • Essential.Sign-in, security, and load balancing. These are always on — without them, the app can't tell who you are or keep your session safe.
  • Preferences.Language, theme, and the layout choices you've made. Off by default until you change a setting; on for as long as you keep that setting.
  • Diagnostics. Anonymised crash and performance traces so we can ship fixes. Off by default. Opt in from You → Privacy → Diagnostics if you want to help.

We don't have an advertising or analytics-for-marketing category, because we don't run ads and we don't profile you for them.

Third parties

Maskotis doesn't embed Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, TikTok, Hotjar, or any other tracker that follows you between sites. Today, no third party sets cookies on Maskotis at all.

When you tap a link another member shared that goes outside Maskotis, you leave us and the destination's cookie rules apply. We try to flag those jumps clearly.

§ 05Section

Your controls

You don't need our permission to clear cookies — your browser and OS already let you. From inside Maskotis, you also have:

  • The cookie banner on first visit, where you accept or reject the optional categories in one tap each.
  • Cookie settings in the footer, reachable on every page, where you can change your mind any time.
  • Sign out everywhere from You → Devices, which clears the session cookie on every signed-in browser.

Reject everything optional and Maskotis still works — you'll just see English by default and we won't catch your crash reports.

§ 06Section

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

We honour the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal as an opt-out from all optional cookies, in line with California and Colorado privacy law. We also treat the older Do Not Track header the same way.

If your browser sends either signal, we won't set Preferences or Diagnostics cookies — you don't need to interact with the banner for that to take effect.

Updates to this notice

When we add a cookie, remove one, or change what an existing one does, we update this page and bump the version. Material changes are announced in the app and by email at least 30 days before they take effect. Prior versions live in our change log.
