Maskotis runs on a simple agreement: you bring your pet, we bring the tools, and nobody gets ambushed by fine print. This page is the long version of that handshake.

§ 01Section

The deal

These terms cover how you use Maskotis — the app, the website, and everything we ship under that name. By creating an account or tapping around the app, you're agreeing to them. If a clause feels like fine print, tell us — we'll rewrite it.

Maskotis is operated by Maskotis Inc. in the US and Maskotis EU Lda. in the EU and UK. The contract is with whichever entity serves your region, and you can reach either at hello@maskotis.com.

§ 02Section

Your account

You need to be at least 16 to keep a Maskotis account. One person, one account — bring your household into a shared pet rather than sharing a login.

  • Truthful basics:use a real name and a working email. We won't publish either.
  • Your password is yours:we never see it in clear text, and we'll never ask for it. Anyone holding it acts as you.
  • Tell us fast if you suspect someone else got in — we can lock the account in seconds.
§ 03Section

What you can do

With a Maskotis account, you can keep pet profiles, log care, set reminders, share access with your household, and join packs around your area or interest.

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Maskotis for the care of pets in your life. That's broad on purpose — it covers the obvious cases and most of the unusual ones.

§ 04Section

House rules

A short list of things that get an account suspended. None of them should surprise you:

  • Posting content that's illegal, abusive, or designed to harass another member.
  • Pretending to be a vet, trainer, or other regulated professional when you aren't one.
  • Scraping, reverse-engineering, or hammering our APIs outside the rate limits we publish.
  • Using Maskotis to sell animals, breed for profit, or run anything resembling a puppy mill.
  • Uploading someone else's pet photos or veterinary records without their say-so.

We act on reports within a working day. If we take something down, we tell you why and how to appeal.

§ 05Section

Community talk isn't medical advice

Maskotis is a community of people who live with pets. People share photos, milestones, and ask questions in packs and posts. It's wonderful, and it's also not a clinic.

Information you get from other members — even when it's specific and confident — is notprofessional veterinary advice. We don't verify it. For any health question about your pet, talk to a licensed veterinarian. In an emergency — bleeding, choking, collapse, eating something dangerous — go to a clinic.

Maskotis doesn't diagnose, prescribe, or treat. We host the conversation.

§ 06Section

Reporting and appeals

If you see content that breaks the house rules or is otherwise illegal, report it. Every post and profile has a Report option, and you can also email moderation@maskotis.com. Tell us what you saw and where, and we'll take it from there.

  • We act on reports within a working day.
  • If we restrict, hide, or remove something, we tell the person who posted it why — in plain language — and they have at least 30 days to appeal.
  • Appeals are reviewed by a different person than the original moderator. We answer within seven working days.
  • If you think we got the appeal wrong, you can take the matter to your country's out-of-court dispute body or the courts.

Your data, in short

  • Maskotis Inc. (US) and Maskotis EU Lda. (EU and UK) are the data controllers for your personal data.
  • We process the data we need to run the service: your account info, what you put in your pet profiles, what you post, who you follow, and how the app is performing for you.
  • We don't sell your data, we don't train AI models on your pet photos, and we ask before we use your information for anything beyond running the service.
  • You can access, correct, export, and delete your data at any time, and you have the right to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority.
§ 08Section

Your content stays yours

You own your pet's photos, notes, milestones, and records. We don't claim copyright over any of it. To run the service we need a narrow licence — to store your content, show it to the people you share it with, and back it up — nothing more.

We don't train AI models on your pet photos, and we don't sell your content to third parties. When you delete something, the licence ends with it.

§ 09Section

Ending things

You can close your account from You → Privacy → Delete accountwhenever you like. We'll export everything for you on the way out and remove it from production immediately.

We may suspend or close an account if it's breaking the house rules, putting other members at risk, or being used to defraud us. Where it's safe to, we'll warn first and give you a chance to make it right.

§ 10Section

Liability and disputes

Maskotis is provided as-is. We work hard to keep it accurate and available, but we can't promise the service is uninterrupted or error-free, and we're not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Where the law gives you stronger consumer rights, those rights come first.

If we disagree about something, write to us first — most things sort out over email within a week. If they don't, US users go through the courts of New York, and EU users through the courts of Lisbon, Portugal. You always keep the right to bring a claim where you live.

Updates to these terms

When we change something material, we'll tell you in the app and by email at least 30 days before it takes effect. You can read every prior version in our change log.

Questions about these terms go to a real person on our team — not a ticket queue and not a chatbot. Our legal team reads every reply.
