Let's start with the conflict of interest: Maskotis is one of the three apps in this comparison.
So read it knowing that. What we're going to do is apply the seven questions from the previous article to all three, say precisely what each offers, and finish by saying when we're not the best option. If you get to the end unclear about when to pick someone else, we haven't done the job properly.
The most serious direct competitor in Mexico, and the closest to what many people are looking for when they type "cartilla digital".
What it offers, per its own site: a digital record covering vaccines, medications and illness history, with reminders and links shareable with a vet; a lost-pet alert button that generates a "Se busca" poster and notifies their community; medication tracking with export; and optional insurance.
Published prices: free basic plan (2 pets, 1 alert per pet per year); Premium $299 MXN a year or $39 a month (3 pets, 2 alerts); Family $499 MXN a year or $59 a month (unlimited pets, 3 family members). Alert extensions from $199 MXN.
Its strongest feature is the lost-pet alert with an automatic poster. That solves one specific, horrible moment, and solves it well. We don't have it.
What we didn't find on their site: anything about WhatsApp. The reminders and the community live inside the app.
The international veteran of the group, with years behind it and a user base well beyond any Mexican app in the segment.
Its strength is breadth: it's among the most complete for care records, and it has serious professional use — groomers and clinics — alongside the owner side.
Its real cost isn't the price, it's the learning curve. It's a big tool, built for people who want to record a lot. If what you want is to keep the card and be reminded, you'll be stepping over a great many features you were never going to use.
And it isn't written for Mexico. That's not a flaw — it's a global app — but it shows in the vocabulary and the context.
What exists today: register your pet, keep their care events, and store documents, with dates.
What doesn't exist today: reminders aren't open. There's no lost-pet alert. No insurance. No vet consultation inside the app, and there won't be — we aren't vets and we're not going to tell you what to give your pet.
What we're building is for the reminder to reach you on WhatsApp, where this audience already lives, rather than inside one more app. It isn't open yet and we're not putting a date on it here.
We are, by some distance, the youngest of the three.
Without decoration:
Choose DigiPet if your main worry is your pet going missing and you want the alert tool today, working, with a community behind it. Also if you want the insurance in the same place.
Choose 11pets if you like recording in detail, if you have several pets with complex care, or if you're on the professional side. It's the most complete.
Choose Maskotis if what you want is the simple thing: the card on your phone, free, in Mexican Spanish, without being sold a plan. And if you're interested in what we're building around WhatsApp.
Don't choose Maskotis if you need reminders working this week. They aren't there yet, and we'd rather say so here than disappoint you inside.
Whichever you pick — ask these before entering four years of history: can I export my data? What happens if I stop paying? Can I print it? They're set out here.
